What I liked:
“Great room, fabulous bathroom, quiet.”
What the hotel could do better:
“Service was mediocre, concierge was not helpful with anything more than the basics of putting an x on a map. Check in staff left us waiting in the bar for over an hour. Housekeeping was very nice and so was the bartender. Not worth it, I will definitely look for another hotel in Amsterdam with a warmer staff.”

What I liked:
“Everything. The room was a wonderful combination of high technology (e.g. bathroom appointments, lighting fixtures, espresso machine) and old-fashioned luxury. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The location was pleasant, near but away from the city hullabaloo.”

What I liked:
“The Grand is like an oasis of calm in an already laid-back city. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome; during our stay the staff were extremely gracious and helpful, providing annotated maps, recommendations, taxis and anything else we needed. The decor is generally great (and it's such a characterful old building) but the rooms are exquisite - high-ceilinged, beautifully finished and lush. Almost *too* lush - it's tempting to curl up on the huge and comfortable beds and just never leave! I definitely recommend the place - including the bar on the first floor, which served the finest mojitos I have yet tasted (and I have tasted quite a few!)”

What I liked:
“The front desk staff was incredibly gracious and helpful throughout our stay. We arrived early for check-in and they brought us up to the restaurant for coffee while our bags were taken care of for us. The concierge made several excellent dinner recommendations and helped us book a canal cruise.
We were upgraded to a two floor apartment. Although the furnishings were a bit dated, we never felt like we were in a hotel. As soon as we stepped inside, it was like staying in a relative's apartment in Amsterdam. The apartment had a bedroom, 1 1/2 baths, kitchen, sitting area and dining table. Incredibly spacious and very comfortable.
Common areas are beautiful. Lobby, outdoor garden, lounge and restaurant were all very well designed and beautifully executed.”
What the hotel could do better:
“Spiral stairway in our apartment would be a little treacherous for anyone elderly or with mobility issues. Kitchen was not stocked with coffeemaker, pots, pans, etc... Not a problem because we didn't plan on cooking!”
