What I liked:
“Staying at Alta Bay was a wonderful experience after staying in large-anonymous hotels on business trips and having experienced several other good hotels in Cape town. I would highly recommend Alta Bay to anyone for a relaxing experience. The house is very nice (and you really feel like being in a beautiful house not just a boutique hotel) and in a pleasant neighborhood overlooking Cape Town. Most of it all, service is very attentive and you have somebody to help you for all requests - reservations and all kinds of information on the city (very close to a personal butler !). Restaurant recommendations and reservations were great. The limited staff ensured every day that our stay and visits were going smoothly and that we were positively surprised.”
What the hotel could do better:
“Location can be seen as a handicap but you quickly find out how easy it is to go anywhere (the hotel has a dedicated taxi company) and that this can be a much better experience than staying in other locations in Cape Town (e.g. Waterfront).”
