    What I liked:

“Great location in the heart of Edinburgh, although parking is a headache. A beautiful old building with great heritage, nicely done rooms and views of the city.”

What the hotel could do better:

“Unfortunately, with an old building goes no aircon, only one lift in each of the two buildings meaning tedious waits, and apparently a degree of complacency in the staff.

Don't go here if you are a food or even more so a wine lover. The Vermilion restaurant produced passable food amid chaotic service, and the first 4 choices from the already very limited wine list were unavailable.

Overall, we liked our room, but were unimpressed with anything else. Boutique hotel service ethos was just not there.”

    What I liked:

“Practically everything, especially "the hatch" used to deliver room service.”

What the hotel could do better:

“The restaurant was being renovated so there really was no place on site to enjoy a drink.”

    What I liked:

“Location near the Royal Mile and Princes Street is great. The health club is wonderful. The room and amenities were nice.”

What the hotel could do better:

“We were given a room on the Waverly station side, at ground level in the old editors' offices of The Scotsman. The noise from the train station announcements (clearly audible from the hotel room) and the pounding of disco music from below led to one night's lost sleep. Don't book here unless you can be assured your room will not be in this location.”

    What I liked:

“The rooms, we had two, were very comfortable. The bed was fantastic. And the bathrooms were beautiful. I loved the shower.”

What the hotel could do better:

“The room(s) were a little too warm for our tastes and hard to cool down other than opening a window where it was -4C outside.”
