What I liked:
“Absolutely wonderful, the building, the rooms, the excellent beachfront setting and the great staff made for a stay far exceeding my expectations. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have had anywhere, with a large and interesting mix of local and international items. We took all of our meals at the restaurant and were delighted with the food and the service each time. The Fortress is a place I will certainly stay again, and recommend to anyone looking to relax and unwind in a perfect beachfront setting.”
What the hotel could do better:
“Transport to and from the hotel, and into Galle for sightseeing were the only drawbacks. Would highly recommend to hire a car, and perhaps a car and driver, starting at the airport for the entire stay. The local taxi transport, or three wheelers, are usefull enough but very over priced for tourists.”
