The owners of X2 certainly know what is wrong with most hotels; and more importantly know how to make these wrongs right and more. Gorgeously designed. You are treated as you are, like an adult. Relaxed and unpretentious, but any need is met with kindness, warmth, but without the servile exchange you normally feel at a hotel. Yes the location is outside of the tourist hot spots - Chaweng beach - but if you are at X2 you are not on Samui for this. It is a simple blissful, calm, and absolutely gorgeous location. It is very easy to walk or ride one of the hotel's bikes to local shops, and if you need to get anywhere on the island a driver is waiting at a reasonable price. One particular note on the spa. My wife is a massage therapist and I've had many many treatments over the years, but the Thai massage we had was by far the best either of us have ever had. By a long, long way.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this hotel! It is on the Southeast side of the island, so more remote and relaxing - but easy to rent a scooter (at the hotel!) and drive north to the more crowded/chaotic scene, if that's what you want. The pool was AMAZING. The people AMAZING. Restaurant was great, and priced low, which was nice. Love the Apple TV in the room. Private pool - Amazing. Could not have had a more positive experience! The hotel and design is beautiful, done impeccably. Highly recommend

Rooms with private plunge pool are excellent. Public places (lobby, eating areas) are open space design giving a close-to-nature ambience.

It's a stunningly designed hotel in a good location, although the beach isn't fantastic. The pool makes up for it. The rooms are large and, again, the design is nice.

I do like some parts of the architectural design of the hotel.

NIce Pool Villa, although basic rooms would be a let down (we were shown to one before reminding them that we were tablet plus)

Excellent service, superb food, lovely grounds, chic rooms and quiet atmosphere. Would love to visit again. Special touches by the staff that were unforgettable, such as making a cd of the music playing in the restaurant for a guest, catering to special dietary needs and providing a chef's demo for the meal, on a private dining session.
