Watch the sommelier, the years do not correspond with what they bring to the table and they charged the same amount for the inferior wines. This happenned twice. The cheek of it!

The rooms were amazing, the views spectacular and the hotel a peaceful oasis with all that we needed for a relaxing weekend break. We found it difficult to leave. It was a very special, memorable place to celebrate my 40th birthday and have a romantic getaway. The spa, steam and pool areas. Breakfast on the terrance was wonderful; in general the staff were eager to help.

The hotel charmed us from the get go. Its location was particularly curious, for we climbed up for at least 15 minutes before we got to the very narrow alley among tall pine trees that led us to the entrance. The place itself was serene, beautiful and away from the extremely touristic hullabaloo of the hotel district of Funchal (Estrada Monumental). Plus the room had an excellent view of Funchal, a lovely terrace with chaise lounges to enjoy Nespresso coffee and the most comfortable hotel bed I had the pleasure of sleeping in, in years. The service was excellent; we wanted to extend our stay and the management was extremely helpful and generous. We were truly sad to leave the place.

The location of the hotel, surrounded by eucalyptus, high on a hill with breathtaking views of Funchal. The Spa facilities and the 2-heated pools.Nice surprise was the shuttle service from the hotel and fantastic service - specially the young manager Diana Moura - her advice was always spot-on
