“The hotel was in a decent location, close to shopping and restaurants.”
What the hotel could do better:
“This hotel was too old school for me, polyester bedspreads that don't get laundered in between guests. The 3 staff that were standing at the front door didn't open it for us a single time. Shower floor was kind of squishy, tub didn't drain, showerhead was short, no counter space for toiletries. This hotel lacks innovation. I don't plan on going back.”

What I liked:
“Great concierge service, nice lobby and Palm Court bar/restaurant with jazz music, terrific location.”
What the hotel could do better:
“Although we had a non-smoking room, the hall smelled of smoke, and so did the otherwise clean sheets. The bathroom did not have sufficient ventilation, and the TV had a really bad picture. We asked for the towels to be replaced only if we put them on the floor, but they kept replacing them anyway - not very eco-friendly. And for a city known for its good coffee, the coffee in the room was your regular Maxwell House-type.”

What the hotel could do better:
“Our first room and the hallway it was off of smelled like cigarette smoke.
We were told that we could not move because the Hotel was full. I told reception that we would file a written complaint. 10 minutes latter we were given another room that did not smell like smoke.
Our room ewas not cleaned on a daily basis. Linen was not changed, dirty glasses and coffee cups were left for three days, trash not emptied,
I told front desk cler k about this at check out, he said "tto bad about that"
Not a class act from what was supposed to be a class Hotel.
Good Luck with that. We are to be back in Portland on a regular basis. The Benson will not be our first choice.
I am in the preocess of sharing my experience with trip advisor etc now that we have returned from our extended stay in the Northwest.”

What I liked:
“The Benson was in a great location, close to both down town Portland and a short walk to the street car to head out to the Pearl District. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful with check in, baggage, and even hailing cabs. The hotel is classy and the lounge is very welcoming. Nice mix of old school class and modern comfort.”
What the hotel could do better:
“The only thing that wasnt great about our experience was the loud group next door. We could hear them clearly thru the wall and double door that connected our rooms.”
