What I liked:
“Perfectly located at edge of Ipanema, walking distance from Copacabana. Fantastic views from ocean view rooms and roof pool deck. Unbeatable "scene" in its bar and pool deck; quite the hip place to be. Very stylish and well maintained rooms and common areas.”
What the hotel could do better:
“The cost - of everything. I have stayed in the past at Fasano - Sao Paulo, which was largely why I chose Fasano - Rio de Janeiro for my hotel this trip. Rooms at Rio property were same quality as Sao Paulo, but twice the price and half the size of Sao Paulo. Moreover, the staff at Fasano - Sao Paulo provided many things gratis as part of guest service, including no charge for most trips using the hotel car & driver. Fasano - Rio, on the other hand, not only charged for every little thing that they could (and charged a lot, esp for Brazil), their charge for use of the hotel driver was 3 times the price of what cab fare would be for the trip. They were also completely unsympathetic to my situation of weather in the USA causing my flight to Brazil to cancel, leading me to arrive and check in a day later than booked. They still charged me for the first night, which went unused.”

What I liked:
“The roof deck had a fantastic view of the beach and the bar area is a very pleasant place to relax and have a drink any time of the day. The location and public spaces are also beautifully designed with an interesting mix of subdued P.Stark style and gorgeous brazilian wood furniture. The restaurant was also very good although quite expensive.
I preferred the Copacabana Palace hotel and wish I'd stayed there one day longer and instead come to the Fasano just for drinks/dinner.”
What the hotel could do better:
“The roof deck pool, as is often the case in Stark designed hotels, is more of a big showcase jaccuzi than a proper pool one could swim in. The hotel room was significantly smaller/less practical yet noticeably more expensive than any comparably top hotel we stayed at in Brazil. The bathroom gets all wet after one shower and everything stays humid for them onwards.”

“Terrific hotel, fantastic service and a wonderful overall experience. The only work they need is relative to the spa and food.”
